All depots, important bus stations and enforcement squads are equipped with breath analysers to check if drivers are drunk on duty, a press release said here Wednesday.

On the whole, 109 Volvo buses are operated by the RTC. They include 80 Garuda and 21 Garuda Plus buses.

An RTC official said the rate of accidents involving RTC buses came down from 1.2 per cent to 0.09 per cent in the last two years. The corporation also conducts refresher training for drivers, who have bad driving habits. It assigns long distance, special and high-end services and ghat routes only to experienced drivers, he explained, adding that it’s safe to travel by RTC.
