Cinepolis Opens Six Screens at PVP Mall

Mexico-based Cinepolis, the world’s fourth largest multiplex operator, is planning to open screens in Guntur, its India head (operations and strategy) Devang Sampat said.

VIJAYAWADA: Mexico-based Cinepolis, the world’s fourth largest multiplex operator, is planning to open screens in Guntur, its India head (operations and strategy) Devang Sampat said.

Addressing a press conference after the launch of their six-screen multiplex at the PVP Square Mall here Wednesday, Sampat said that they had actually started screening the movies since August 2.

“The all-digital, RealD 3-D equipped multiplex will feature up to 24 shows every day and will have a seating capacity of more than 1,200 people. With this, Cinepolis has also achieved the landmark of 90 screens in India,” he added.

Sampat also said that the ticket price of `75 was within the reach of all sections of people. “The unique feature of our theatres is we have designed our halls with ample leg room and seats with vinyl that give a fresh look,” he added. Answering a question, he said that they were ready to open their screens in Guntur city too, if any mall comes up there.

It is said that Cinepolis will open 50 screens in Andhra Pradesh, including 3 megaplexes and many multiplexes. They are planning to set up 40 screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the next three years.

Local manager Appala Raju was also present at the press meet.
