GUNTUR: District collector Kantilal Dande has urged the Vocational Intermediate students to make use of the training offered to them by various companies and improve their professional skills.
Speaking at the Centralised Apprenticeship ‘Job Mela’ held at the Government Women’s College in Guntur here Wednesday, the collector said, “Though there is no relationship between the courses we study and jobs we do, the youth can come up in any field by improving skills through constant practice.”
About 1,000 students from Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts, who have completed Vocational Intermediate courses, participated in the job mela held by the district vocational junior college.
As many as 450 students of the total 500 were selected by various companies to provide training and jobs.
About 22 companies from all over the state participated in the job mela.
At the end of the training programme, the students would be offered jobs in various companies. They would also be given a certificate by the Board of Apprentice and Training (BOAT) in Chennai.
MLC KS Lakshmana Rao, Intermediate Vocational Education regional joint director DRK Paramahamsa, BOAT representative VS Pandey, Intermediate Vocational Junior College principal P Sudhakara Rao were among others present at the job mela.
