Finally, the film personality turned political leader Babu Mohan has quit Telugu Desam, with which he had spent 16 years.  Bidding adieu to the yellow party, which gave his political birth, Babu Mohan announced his decision to the mediapersons and broke down into tears. He said he was a sincere activist and had followed the directions of his leader Chandrababu Naidu to the word.

“I had done whatever he asked me to do. Contested from whereever he asked me to do. I had sincerely discharged duties entrusted to me. But, listening to the words of an upstart K Madanmohan Reddy, who desires to contest Zaheerabad Lok Sabha seat, he ordered a survey on my winning chances, which is an insult,” he said.

Babu Mohan also pointed out at the manner in which he was not asked to give B Forms for MPTC and ZPTC candidates like he did for the municipal councillor candidates. He said that since he had given B Forms for Jogipet municipal ward members, he will campaign for them, irrespective of which party he will be part of in future. He expressed his ire over Chandrababu not trusting a person, who had spent his personal fortune for the party. He said he will announce his future course of action in a couple of days.

Meanwhile, rumours of his imminent entry into TRS now have picked up the moment he made the announcement and his critics started saying that his drama of not quitting TDP at any cost was only to divert the attention of the people. Babu Mohan on TDP ticket had defeated the former deputy CM Damodara Rajanarasimha in 1998 by-elections. In 1999 elections also he defeated Rajanarasimha for the second time, but lost in subsequent elections.

A TDP leader felt that Babu Mohan sent his followers to TRS as a prelude to his entry into the pink party.
