Over 1 Lakh Devotees Throng Durga Temple on 'Moola Nakshatram'

VIJAYAWADA: Scores of devotees thronged the Sri Kanaka Durga temple here on occasion of 'Moola Nakshatram' today during the ongoing 'Navratri' festival.

In order to smoothen the rush, temple was opened late last night and since then devotees in large numbers are coming, temple officials said today.

Around 1.5 lakh devotees have offered 'darshan' by this noon and another 2-3 lakh people are expected to visit the temple on the auspicious day, officials added.

Though the temple authority and police have an elaborate arrangements, devotees faced problems while standing in long queues and some of them even fainted at the spot, who were later taken to the nearby hospital.

Devotees today also included MPs K Srinivas, G Ganga Raju, high court judges C V Nagarjuna Reddy, S Ravi Kumar and others.
