Special Dappu Rally Invite for CPM Public Meet Today

VISAKHAPATNAM: Hundreds of traditional dappu (drum) beats reverberated the Port city Saturday as part of the dappu rally taken out to woo people to the public meeting at RK Beach Sunday, marking the conclusion of the CPM’s 21st All India Conference in the city. The rally was taken out from the Port Kalavani auditorium to Dondaparthy.

Flagging off the dappu rally, CPM state secretary P Madhu said that the six-day meet was held successfully and it would be given a befitting conclusion with the public meeting Sunday. The drum beats accompanied other performances like pyramid and dances, which attracted passersby along the stretch. During the public meeting, the CPM would announce the election of the new office-bearers, including the party’s new general secretary for the country.

On Sunday, a rally of thousands of party workers and sympathisers would be taken out from the RTC Complex to the RK Beach where the public meeting would be addressed by politburo members Prakash Karat, Brinda Karat, Sitaram Yechury and Manik Sarkar. The public meeting will be presided over by politburo member BV Raghavulu. All arrangements have been made for the meeting where over 50,000 people are expected.
