SRIKAKULAM:Endowments principal secretary JSV Prasad directed the officials to take up special measures to conserve the heritage wealth of the temples. He also directed the officials to make arrangements for translating the Vedas with meanings in Telugu.

Prasad, who arrived here on a day’s visit here Tuesday, visited Sri Suryanarayana Swami temple at Arasavilli and Sri Kurmanatha Swami temple at Srikurmam.

On the occasion, he directed the officials to take extra care to protect cows and uphold dharma at the respective devasthanams. On the government orders to stop construction of concrete structures in and around temples, Prasad strictly directed the officials not to take up any concrete works around the temples including roads.

The government had hammered out an action plan to develop seven important temples in the state, including Simhachalam, Annavaram, Kanipakam, Srikalahasti and Dwaraka Tirumala in the first phase. In the second phase, Arasavilli, Antharvedi, Mahanandi and Kadiri temples would be developed, he added.

Observing the shops and constructions between the main temple and pushkarini (temple tank), he directed the Arasavilli temple authorities to remove all those structures immediately.
