Centre Puts HC Ball in AP Court

Express News Service

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Centre expressed its readiness to take immediate measures to issue necessary notification over establishment of a separate high court for Andhra Pradesh or at least a HC bench in AP. However, the Centre expressed helplessness in the matter unless the state government identifies a suitable location.

In a letter written to MP T Subbarami Reddy, Union Law minister DV Sadananda Gowda said that as per the AP Reorganisation Act, a separate HC should be constituted for AP. But the state government should identify the location and then create necessary infrastructure in consultation with the chief justice of High Court at Hyderabad.
