HYDERABAD: Bringing down the curtains on the standoff between the ruling Telugu Desam Party and principal opposition on the issue of suspension imposed on YSRC MLA RK Roja for one year, the actor-turned-politician reportedly tendered her apology to TDP MLA V Anitha.

This might pave the way for the lifting of suspension imposed on Roja for one year from the House. The Privileges Committee of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, headed by TDP MLA Gollapalli Surya Rao, recorded the statement of Roja here on Wednesday, when she presented herself before the panel.

Later, while speaking to mediapersons, Roja said she had presented her argument before the panel. "I did not make any inappropriate comments against TDP member Anitha. If she feels that any of my comments hurt her, I am ready to withdraw remarks," she said.

Even committee chairman G Surya Rao disclosed that Roja had assured Anitha that she would apologise to her if the latter felt hurt for her comments. According to sources, the government is likely to initiate the process to lift the ban imposed on Roja. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, panel chairman Surya Rao said the committee had recorded the statement of Roja and soon a report would  be forwarded to Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao. "We have recorded Roja's version. It will be incorporated in the report of the committee.  The report will be submitted to the Speakersoon," he added.
