VIJAYAWADA: There will be no need for night vigils at the farms to switch on the pumps, hassle of frequent repairs of motor pump sets incurring expenditure that could have been used for other more useful purposes.
Farmers in the state can now expect not just to save power, precious water, but also time, there by money. It is what Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of public sector utilities under Ministry of Power promises.
“All that is required for the farmer to do is to simply switch on the motor pump set in his field remotely through his smartphone, sitting comfortably from his house or anywhere else and switch it off when the needed water is drawn. It saves lot of bother,” Saurabh Kumar, managing director EESL, said.
The new smart energy efficient pump sets are also now being viewed as life savers, given that there were several incidents reported not just from different parts of the state, but also country where farmers were killed by snakes or accidently getting electrocuted, when they had ventured into the farms to switch on their motors.
As it can be remotely operated from anywhere, the families of farmers need not worry. That is being seen as the USP of the new energy efficient pumps. More or less it was what Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said, while launching the EESL Energy Efficient Pump Sets distribution programme in the State on Thursday.
After remotely switching on and off an energy efficient motor pump set in Rajahmundry using smart phone from Vijayawada, a visibly excited Naidu wanted the smart paneling to enable remote operations of all the existing motor pump sets in the state. “There will be no misuse of water, no night visits to farms,” he said and wanted the experts to look for ways and means for using the same technology for all other devices. According to EESL MD Saurabh Kumar, the distribution of pump sets will commence from July
