K L Rao, a guiding force in lives of youth, says CM Naidu

VIJAYAWADA: Padmabhushan Dr. Kanuru Lakshmana Rao, the renowned engineer’s 114 Birth anniversary was celebrated in JNTU-K on Friday. The JNTU-K Institute of Engineers of Kakinada Local Chapter (IEKLC) and Retired Irrigation Engineers Association of Kakinada (RIEAK) organised the celebrations to honour his birthday.

Prof VSS Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of JNTU-K was the chief guest while Aleem Basha, Commissioner of KMC, Prof. PrabhakarRao, Prof. RamachandraRaju,  Dowleswaram GDS CE Haribabu and RIEAK president RameswarRao were guests of honor.

Prof Prasada Raju, IEKLC Chairman and JNTU-K Registrar presided over the meeting. All dignitaries offered floral wreaths to the late Dr KL Rao and  appreciated his expertise and services to the country.

Addressing to gathering, the chief minister said that the life of K L Rao is an inspiration to all youngsters and he suggested engineering students to come up with innovative thoughts which should be useful to the society from college level as like K L Rao did when he was a student.

Naidu remembered K L Rao engineering expertise and his contributions to the projects from Nagarjuna Sagar to Pulichintala and his research report for the construction of Sreeram Sagar and because of his excellency, K L Rao was elected unanimously as a Member of Parliament from Vijayawada.

Naidu reiterated that under digital India scheme, the process of linkage of every household with internet was done successfully with only `350 crore and as the society is in fourth industrial revolution stage,  the merger of internet with technology is yielding revolutionary changes.

The Chief Minister also noted that the right canal of Polavaram project and the progress of other water projects will be monitoring time to time with drones and sensors.

Later, Naidu felicitated Vijayarao,  grand son of K L Rao. Minister for Irrigation Devineni Uma Maheswar Rao, Chief Secretary S P Tucker, Principal Secretary for Irrigation Sasi Bhushan Kumar and other irrigation department officials and leaders were participated in the event.
