City police nab eight burglars, seize Rs 9 lakh worth gold, silver

VIJAYAWADA: The city police, on Friday have arrested eight burglars in two separate incidents and recovered 257 gm gold and 3.3 kg silver worth `9 lakh, here on Friday.

According to the police, Chatla Siva Reddy (39), Kagithala Siva Sankar (36), Gadilli Siva (24), Polavarapu Srinu (37), and Thota Ramakrishna (20),  were daily wagers and residents of Two Town. Allegedly, on September 24, the five broke into a house at Rajagopal Street in One Town area. The crime police nabbed them while they were trying to sell the jewellery.


In another case, a gang of three, identified as Karri Kiran Kumar (28), Tholusuri Venkateswar Rao (28) and Devarakonda Siva Rama Krishna (24),natives of Guntur district were nabbed on Sivalayam street of One town area when they were seen moving suspiciously.


According to the police, the three formed a gang while serving jail term in Guntur district jail and had committed four burglaries in a period of two months, after their release, in Vijayawada.
