Kadapa-Hyderabad low cost flight service flagged off

Kadapa has made it to the list of the low cost flight carrier map of the country, with a flight service on the Kadapa-Hyderabad route being launched as part of the UDAN scheme.

KADAPA: Kadapa has made it to the list of the low cost flight carrier map of the country, with a flight service on the Kadapa-Hyderabad route being launched as part of the 'Ude Desh ke Aam Nagarik'
(UDAN) scheme on Thursday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the flight services in three sectors including the Kadapa-Hyderabad through video conference in Shimla.

As part of the scheme, the airfare for a 1-hour journey of approximately 500 km on a fixed wing aircraft or for 30-minute journey on a helicopter would be capped at Rs 2,500. The seating capacity of
the aircraft under the scheme will range between 19 and 78, and 50 per cent of the seats in every flight will have the fare cap.

It takes more than seven hours to travel a distance of 425 km by road from Hyderabad to Kadapa, while rail distance is 480 km. As part of the service, the aircraft will cover the 333 km distance in an hour or so.

"UDAN is a first-of-its-kind scheme to give regional connectivity a boost. With the move, travelling in a flight has become a reality for the common man," said marketing minister C Adinarayana Reddy who took part in the programme through video conference from the Kadapa airport. He appealed to the people to avail of the service of the low cost flight services.

The minister also promised to strive for introducing flight services to Chennai and Visakhapatnam from Kadapa.

Civil Supplies chairman M Linga Reddy, Badvel MLA T Jararamulu, government secretary Ajay Jain, collector Babu Rao Naidu and J C Swetha were present.
