Ayesha Meera murder case: Names of  SIT sleuths out

The state government on Thursday informed the Hyderabad High Court that the Special Investigation Team which was constituted to re-investigate the 2007 Ayesha Meera murder case.

HYDERABAD: The state government on Thursday informed the Hyderabad High Court that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) which was constituted to re-investigate the 2007 Ayesha Meera murder case would forthwith start probing the case.  The SIT will be headed by Visakhapatnam range DIG Ch Srikanth and have DSPs D Himavathi, Sreelakshmi and Inspector Saherunnissa Begum of Nunna Police Station in Krishna district as its members.

In this regard, government counsel M Padmavathi submitted a report before the division bench of Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice J Uma Devi which was dealing with a writ petition filed by the parents of Ayesha Meera and the PIL filed by Prof Rama S Melkote and two others seeking direction to the government to initiate re-investigation into the rape and murder case. The petitioners sought a court-monitored SIT probe or a CBI investigation.
