VIJAYAWADA: Taking serious note of comments made by YSRC party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during the campaign for the Nandyal Assembly by-election, the Election Commission has directed the Returning Officer to issue a warning to the former.
Confirming this, Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh Bhanwarlal said the warning will be issued in written to Jaganmohan Reddy, the Leader of the Opposition by the Returning Officer of Nandyal. During his 13 days campaigning for the by-election, Jaganmohan Reddy had commented that there was nothing wrong if someone like Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was shot in broad daylight.
Chandrababu Naidu took exception to the comments and his party lodged a complaint with the Election Commission. A notice was served on Jaganmohan Reddy on August 6 by the Election Commission following the incident. In his reply to the notice on August 8, Jaganmohan Reddy clarified that he was only trying to make a point and did not mean what he said literally and there was nothing personal.
