PRAKASAM: Yet another TDP leader landed himself in trouble at Chirala on Sunday while putting on display his muscle power. Amanchi Swamulu, the elder brother of Chirala MLA Amanchi Krishna Mohan, bashed up a journalist in broad daylight on the streets of Chirala after the latter reportedly brought to light the alleged corrupt activities of his elder brother.

M Nagarjuna Reddy is a senior journalist works for a local television channel and also runs a local monthly magazine. He recently published a report alleging that Krishna Mohan and his brother Swamulu had borrowed loans from banks in the name of eligible candidates belonging to economically backward sections. When the loans were not repaid, the banks reportedly approached the people under whose names the loans were availed.

Enraged, Swamulu and six others caught hold of Nagarjuna Reddy and chased him down the streets near the Gandhi Statue Centre in Chirala on Sunday. The attackers who are the MLA's aides beat up Reddy with sticks and other weapons. The victim cried for help even as passersby watched helplessly. As the issue came to light through social media, cases were registered against the MLA's brother and his aides.

Reddy who suffered severe injuries on his head and legs, was rushed to the nearest government hospital. After first aid, he was shifted to a private hospital in Guntur for better treatment. His condition is said to be critical.
