The APEPDCL has taken up the programme of Solar Rooftop Systems (1KW) in Vizag for the low income group customers whose consumption is less than 200 units a month.

Cost of 1kw system is Rs 90,000 approximately. The NREDCAP has agreed to give up front subsidy of Rs 37,500 (ie 20 oc from NREDCAP and 30 pc from MNRE and for the balance amount it is planned to arrange as loan from Andhra Bank.

The Bank has agreed to recover the EMI of the loan through the monthly current consumption bills of the consumer. “We have taken APERC approval for incorporating loan EMI in the bills of consumers and the bank has agreed to sanction loan at 11 pc interest and it is being negotiated to make it less than 10 pc,” announced the CMD.
