Remove unauthorised shops on drains in city: GMC chief

 Guntur Municipal Corporation Commissioner instructed the public health officials to immediately clear shops that have been established illegally on drains at NTR Stadium.

GUNTUR: Guntur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ch Anuradha instructed the public health officials to immediately clear shops that have been established illegally on drains at NTR Stadium and Brindavan Garden area in the city. She inspected the Under Ground Drainage (UGD) works near Brindavan Garden area and observed many shops have been set up without permission from the GMC officials.  

The Commissioner visited the proposed sites for construction of drainage at Bhagya Nagar and ordered the officials to start the works immediately on the request of locals. She noticed vacant sites during the visit of Vikalangula Nagar and asked the officials to issue notices to site owners asking them to keep their premises clean.

After receiving complaints from local people about the inconvenience due to UGD works at Krishna Babu Colony, she ordered the contractors to clear gravel, sand and other materials soon after completion of works. 

Pandemonium at RMC Council meeting

RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: Pandemonium prevailed at Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) council meeting held here on Saturday. Mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai convened the meeting to discuss measures to be taken to maintain proper sanitation in the city during the rainy season. Heated exchanges took place between the ruling TDP and opposition YSRC corporators over civic problems.

The YSRC corporators were forcibly evicted from the council hall when they obstructed the proceedings. Later, the council discussed steps to be taken to keep the city clean and prevent the outbreak of seasonal diseases.
