VIJAYAWADA: TDP leaders on Sunday offered unconditional apology to deputy transport commissioner Bala Subramanyam for misbehaving with him.

A few TDP leaders had gone to meet Subramanyam on Saturday seeking immediate seizure of private buses operating without permits. They not only accused the senior IPS officer of not acting tough against the private bus owners, but also pushed aside his gunmen.

Alleging that the deputy transport commissioner did not respond properly, the leaders complained to MP Kesineni Nani, who rushed to the spot along with MLA Bonda Uma Maheswar Rao and MLC Buddha Venkanna. Even as the commissioner was leaving for some work, the MPs blocked the latter's car for over two hours. Later, both the Vijayawada MP and the transport commissioner went to Vijayawada police commissioner Gautam Sawang to lodge a complaint against each other. Sawang, however, pacified the two groups.

Meanwhile, the issue went to the notice of the chief minister Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday after transport officials demanded that the TDP leaders apologise to the transport commissioner, failing which they would launch a protest. The chief minister reportedly reprimanded the TDP leaders for misbehaving with a senior IPS officer and damaging the party image in public.

Following the meeting with the chief minister, all the TDP leaders went to meet Bala Subramanyam and tendered unconditional apologies. The officer later informed the media that the issue has been sorted out.
