VISAKHAPATNAM: Even as the low-pressure area over Jharkhand and adjoining West Bengal has become less marked, the weathermen have said that a similar zone is likely to be formed over the east-central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood during the next four days.   Given the prevailing weather system, they said, thunderstorms and heavy rain may continue at isolated places across the state.

The cyclonic circulation over Madhya Maharashtra and its neighbourhood extends between 3.1 km and 4.5 km above the mean sea level and another one prevails over the south-east Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea, extending up to 5.8 km above the mean sea level. “Under the influence of cyclonic circulations, thunderstorm associated with heavy rain is very likely to continue at isolated places in all districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema in the next 48 hours,” said an IMD official. On Wednesday, very heavy rain lashed isolated places in West Godavari district and Kurnool districts. Polavaram in West Godavari district recorded 17 cm rain, the highest in the State.
