Japan International Cooperation Agency conducts in-depth traffic study in Guntur

The State government has given permission to conduct study tours in towns and cities to know about the problems plaguing traffic and public transport system.

GUNTUR: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) members conducted a study on traffic and public transport system in the city on Thursday. After the study tour, the JICA members discussed traffic-related issues with Guntur Municipal Corporation authorities at the office here on Thursday.The State government has given permission to conduct study tours in towns and cities which fall under the jurisdiction of APCRDA to know about the problems plaguing traffic and public transport system. 

The JICA members said, “We collected the data of the public transport system and will conduct a study soon. After the completion of the study, we will submit the report to the government.” They opined that if the public uses public transit, it will reduce pollution and traffic problems in the city.GMC commissioner Ch Anuradha said that as heavy traffic is creating problems at TB Junction Road to Lodge Centre, the GMC is planning to widen the roads in those areas. 


“The GMC has already taken steps to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city,” she said.
She said that GMC is planning to shift street vendors and arrange parking zones for vehicles to reduce traffic jams in the city. “The traffic problems will be reduced after the completion of third phase of inner ring road works,” she said. SE D Marianna, city planner S Chakrapani and JICA members Yamada, Robert and others were also present.
