VIJAYAWADA: Condemning what it called a mockery of parliamentary democracy by both the Central and State governments, YSR Congress (YSRC) has decided to observe Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 as ‘Save Constitution Day’.

Disclosing this to mediapersons here on Thursday, party senior leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said YSRC activists would stage protests before Ambedkar statues across the State on that day. “Chandrababu Naidu has been carrying out undemocratic activities for the past four years in the State. The Centre has failed to fulfil its promise made in the Parliament to  grant Special Category Status (SCS) to the State,” he alleged.

He said Chandrababu Naidu has been resorting to unconstitutional activities for the past four years and has bought 23 Opposition MLAs apart from inducting four of them into his Cabinet.Naidu has subverted democracy and made a mockery of the constitutional spirit on numerous occasions despite boasting that he is the most experienced politician, the YSRC leader alleged. Accusing Naidu of harassing all sections of people, he said, “He has been changing his tune  to suit his personal agenda,” Karunakar Reddy said.

The BJP government, which has numbers, did not take enough steps to restore order in the Lok Sabha for taking up discussion on no-confidence motion over Special Category Status (SCS), he alleged.
“The fast observed by BJP leaders is a farce,” he added
