VIJAYAWADA: Dr. Parakala Prabhakar, Advisor (Communications) to Government of Andhra Pradesh resigned to his post and sent the resignation letter to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday.
In the letter, Prabhakar explained that he has taken the decision in view of the comments of Leader of Opposition YS Jaganmohan Reddy against him and the Chief Minister.
Jaganmohan Reddy and other YSRC leaders are questioning the sincerity of Chandrababu Naidu in his fight against the BJP-led NDA government for the rights of the state, when, Parakala Prabhakar, husband of a Cabinet Minister (Nirmala Sitharaman) continues as an advisor to the State Government.
Prabhakar in his resignation letter said that he might not have paid any attention to the comments of other people, but when the Leader of Opposition made such comments and dragged his personal relations to fore, he was hurt. He found fault with the Opposition leader’s attempt to malign his character.
He said they (Opposition party leaders) have started using the fact that his family members are in a different party as a reason to claim that he is compromising on the issues related to the state, which is far from the truth.
Prabhakar said leaders with a matured mindset should understand that people who have set political ideals and values do not take personal relations into account, but unfortunately, those leaders criticising him are not that mature, which was unfortunate.
He said he did not want his continuation in the post as the advisor to put a question mark on the sincerity of the Chief Minister, who is fighting for the rights of the State and its people, hence he has resigned to his post.
Though Parakala Prabhakar has informed the Chief Minister about his decision on Monday night itself, Chandrababu Naidu rejected the proposal outright. However, Prabhakar said he sent the resignation in writing and urged the Chief Minister to accept the same.
Meanwhile, reacting to Parakala Prabhakar’s resignation, Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said State Government will not accept the resignation. He said there is no need to give any importance to the comments of Jaganmohan Reddy and take such a drastic decision.
