PM Modi lays stone for redevelopment of 46 railway stations in Andhra Pradesh

Works taken as part of Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to give facelift to ten stations in Vijayawada division and 12 in Waltair division

VIJAYAWADA: Enhancing passenger experience and infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 46 railway stations, including 10 railway stations in Vijayawada division and 12 railway stations in Waltair division, across the State under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). He also dedicated as many as 80 road under bridges (RUB) and railway under passes (RUP) across the State. Governor S Abdul Nazeer took part in the event from Gunadala railway station under Vijayawada division.

The Prime Minister virtually laid foundation stone, inaugurated, and dedicated 554 railway stations under ABSS, besides inaugurating 1,500 ROBs and RUPs in the country. The projects were valued at over Rs 41,000 crore.

Launched in August 2023 by the Prime Minister, ABSS envisages upgrading 1,275 stations across Indian Railways in two phases.In Andhra Pradesh, 72 stations have been identified for redevelopment at an estimated total cost of nearly Rs 3,141 crore, out of which, the Prime Minister laid the foundation for 46 stations.

The railway stations to be redeveloped include Rajahmundry, Bobbili Junction, Parvathipuram, Srikalahasti, Anantapur, Chittoor, Srikakulam Road, Kadapa, Chipurupalli, Anaparthi, Simhachalam, Naupada Junction, Kothavalasa Junction, Hindupur, Ichchapuram, Bapatla, Chirala, Gudivada, Machilipatnam, Araku, Guntur, Gutthi, Samalkota, Kuppam, Gunadala, Mantralayam Road, Elamanchili, Sullurpet, Mangalagiri, Vinukonda, Rayanapadu, Tadipatri, Kambham, Giddalur, Markapur Road, Dharmavaram, Nadikudi Junction, Narasaraopet, Sattenapally, Nandyala Junction, Rajampet, Adoni, Macharla, Madanapalle Road and Pakala Road.

The Governor, accompanied by MP Kesineni Nani, MLA Malladi Vishnu, City Mayor R Bhagya Lakshmi, Vijayawada Divisional Railway Manager Narendra A Patil and NTR District Collector S Dilli Rao, participated in the programme.
