VIJAYAWADA: Stating that the elections, scheduled to be held on May 13, are very crucial for the development of the State and for the progress of future generations, TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu appealed to the people to exercise their franchise in favour of the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance, both for the Lok Sabha and the Assembly. “Time has come for all of us to save the State from destructive forces,” the former chief minister said in an open letter, addressed to the ‘wise people of the State’.

He recalled, “The TDP government began its journey in 2014 with problems such as bifurcation and financial crunch haunting the State. But, within no time the State was taken on a progressive path with good governance.”

Terming himself people’s well-wisher, he said during his tenure, employment was generated on a massive scale by giving top priority for the welfare of the downtrodden, accelerating the construction of irrigation projects and by building roads, besides inviting wide-ranging investments to Andhra Pradesh.

Construction of Amaravati and the Polavaram project, too, was expedited and over 100 various welfare programmes were implemented for the benefit of all sections of people in the State, he wrote. “Had the TDP come back to power in 2019, we would have taken the State to number one position in the country in terms of development,” he asserted.

Naidu regretted that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy became the Chief Minister at a crucial stage by making false promises to the people, resorting to false propaganda and playing various kinds of dramas. From day one, he has raised the curtains for destruction, dictatorial and atrocious rule, he remarked.

He accused Jagan of exploiting the power that people gave him to change their living standards and looting the State with land, sand and mining mafia. “He is even imposing severe burden on the people by levying various taxes and revising the prices of essentials on a massive scale. He took over all systems and suppressed the Opposition parties and the people for raising their voice against the failures of the government, the TDP chief alleged.

Further, he urged the people to axe the YSRC with their vote and put an end to land grabbing, tax imposition and atrocities.

Seeking the blessings of the people for the NDA, he said the alliance is asking for support with the sole agenda of upholding democracy, welfare and development. “The NDA has a clear plan on how to develop the State for the next five years,” he asserted.

“This is the reason as to why I am making an appeal to all sections to exercise your franchise with conviction,” he said.

Earlier in the day, before winding up his whirlwind electioneering, Naidu addressed two public meetings at Nandyal and Chittoor and termed Jagan the traitor of Rayalaseema region. He reiterated that the AP Land Titling Act will be revoked immediately after the NDA comes to power.

In the evening, Naidu had darshan of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala.
