Misuse of 22-A lands will be looked into, says Minister Anagani Satya Prasad

He said based on the complaints received, the government has taken up suo motu re-verification of freehold lands, and 25,275 acres were alienated through registration.

VIJAYAWADA: Several members of the treasury benches decried the misuse of the lands in 22-A list during the previous YSRC regime as they were converted to freehold and most of them were usurped by members of the then ruling party.

Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad said the government is addressing the issue and even bringing in a legislation -- Land Grabbing (Prevention) Act 2024 to prevent any land-related irregularities.

In reply to a question raised by MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy and others, he explained that a total of 13,59,805 acres of service inam and dotted lands were made freehold pattas. In all, 15,568 people originally held a total of 25,275.70 acres as per the details.

He said based on the complaints received, the government has taken up suo motu re-verification of freehold lands, and 25,275 acres were alienated through registration. In an extent of 7,837 acres, deviations were identified.

“At present registration of freehold lands has been kept on hold, and action is being taken on identified deviations,” he said. Several ministers clarified on issues raised by the members during the Question Hour in the Assembly.
