Andhra Government sanction Rs 275 crore for roads to connect tribal areas

Of the 76 roads, 71 will be constructed in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, two in Eluru, and the remaining three in Kakinada district.

VIJAYAWADA: The State government has granted administrative sanction for the construction of 76 road works, benefiting 90 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) habitations, with an estimated cost of Rs 275.07 crore.

Principal Secretary (Panchayat Raj and Rural Development) Shashi Bhushan Kumar issued the relevant orders on Thursday.

Of the total Rs 275.07 crore, the Central government’s contribution is Rs 163.39 crore, while the State government will extend the remaining Rs 111.68 crore under PMJANMAN (Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan) Batch-1 for the year 2024-25.

Of total 76 roads, 71 to be built in ASR district

Approval has also been granted for an additional Rs 18.76 crore for maintenance during the five-year Defect Liability Period (DLP), which begins after the completion of work, subject to adherence to scheme guidelines and Department Codes.

Of the 76 roads, 71 will be constructed in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, two in Eluru, and the remaining three in Kakinada district.

During a recent visit to tribal areas, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan promised villagers proper road connectivity and to free Andhra Pradesh from dolis (makeshift stretchers), thereby improving transportation and healthcare services.
