VIJAYAWADA: On the occasion of the first anniversary of the coalition government, the State has decided to roll out the much-awaited ‘Talliki Vandanam’ scheme, one of the flagship promises made during the elections under the Super Six agenda.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has approved the implementation of the scheme from Thursday.
Aimed at financially supporting mothers for the education of their children, the government issued a G.O. on Wednesday finalizing the operational guidelines, with a substantial allocation of Rs 8,745 crore towards the implementation of the scheme.
Minister for HRD and IT Nara Lokesh took to social media platform ‘X’ to share the announcement.
“Congratulations to mothers and students on the commencement of the new academic year. Good news to all! On the auspicious occasion of completing one year of the coalition government, we are launching the Talliki Vandanam scheme as a gift to women,” he stated.
He further noted that Chief Minister Naidu has given the green signal for one of the most significant promises made in the election manifesto.
“It is very happy to note that the CM has given the green signal to implement an important promise in the Super Six,” Lokesh posted.
67 lakh students to get Rs 8,745 crore under scheme
Under the scheme, Rs 8,745 crore will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of mothers of 67,27,164 students (Rs 15,000 for each student) across the state. This includes both students already enrolled in schools and those newly entering Class 1 and the first year of Intermediate education. Once admissions are finalized, the funds will be credited to the respective mothers’ accounts.
Lokesh emphasized that the initiative is not just a financial measure but also a tribute to mothers for their vital role in shaping their children’s educational journey. He also highlighted that Talliki Vandanam adds to the growing list of fulfilled NDA promises.
