NEW DELHI: The Hindu college on Wednesday informed the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) that due to the delay in the release of funds from the University Grants Commission the fee of the girl's hostel was increased.

Earlier the prestigious college runs into controversy by having the girls students pay the double amount from what the boys have to pay for accommodation, but replying to the notice of the DCW the administration informed that  the DCW in its letter that “the Boy’s hostel was constructed by the UGC grants and hence the students get the subsidies . In contrast, the construction of the Girl’s hostel has happened without any external funding and its operation is not aided by any maintenance grants from any government body to help in construction.”

Earlier the DCW had issued a notice to the principal of Hindu College and summoned her over higher fee being charged for the institute’s girls’ hostel compared to the boys’ hostel.
