Kindergarten girls locked in basement for not paying school fee, Arvind Kejriwal seeks report

An FIR has been registered in the matter against the concerned school authorities and investigation was underway.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sought a report regarding the alleged locking up of kindergarten girls who were kept in the basement of Rabea Girls Public School in old Delhi on Tuesday for nonpayment of school fee.

Around 15 kindergarten students of a private School in old Delhi were allegedly locked up in a basement due to non-payment of the fee.

An FIR has been registered in the matter against the concerned school authorities and investigation was underway.

Following the incident, parents rushed to the Hauz Khas police station and filed a complaint against the school and further a case under appropriate sections of wrongful confinement with juvenile Act was registered accordingly.

Yesterday, pictures and videos of the kids who were held in the schools' basement went viral on social media.

Meanwhile, the parents of the kindergarten girls have alleged that the basement where the kids were kept did not have proper ventilation and the condition was claustrophobic.

According to the deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, Mr Kejriwal had sought a report on Rabia School matter and called Secretary and Director education at his office with facts.
