NCSK raises issue of safai karamcharis with New Delhi Municipal Council

NEW DELHI: The National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK) today discussed the issue related to exploitation of workers by their contractors and urged the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to explore the possibility of directly hiring them.

NCSK chief Manhar Valji Bhai Zala met NDMC chairman Naresh Kumar and other senior officers to discuss various issues related to sanitation workers.

They also launched newly acquired wheel barrows which will simplify the work of the safai karamcharis.

Zala raised the issue of exploitation of safai karamcharis by their contractors and exhorted the council to explore the possibility of directly hiring them on contract basis, according to an official statement.

Zala also expressed his dismay at the large number of appointment cases pending in the council due to a ceiling on such appointment, it said.
