NEW DELHI: The government on Wednesday approved Motor Vehicle Aggregator Scheme 2023 to regulate cab aggregators and delivery service providers in the city. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the policy is aimed to ensure passenger safety and promote the transition to electric vehicles.

He said, “The scheme prioritises the safety of passengers and ensures timely grievance redressal. It also promotes the use of electric vehicles and reduces pollution levels.”

He said that by transitioning to EVs and promoting electric bike-taxis, the government will be able to reduce the pollution levels in Delhi and create new opportunities for employment and economic growth. The Motor Vehicle Aggregator Scheme 2023 will be applicable to any individual or entity that operates, on-boards or manages a fleet of motor vehicles through digital or electronic means or any other means to ferry passengers or connect a driver offering to deliver or pick up a product, courier, package or parcel with a seller, e-commerce entity or consignor. It will make it mandatory for the aggregators to install a panic button in the vehicles and integration with ‘112’ (Delhi Police) for emergencies.
