GULBARGA: The Karnataka Cabinet which met for the second time in a year on Thursday has set October 31, as the day of inauguration of the newly-formed Yadgir district carved out of Gulbarga.

GULBARGA: The Karnataka Cabinet which met for the second time in a year on Thursday has set October 31, as the day of inauguration of the newly-formed Yadgir district carved out of Gulbarga.

Addressing a press conference after the Cabinet meet, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said that Yadgir, which would be the 30th district in the State, will be inaugurated on the eve of Karnataka Rajyotsava. He promised that he would come to inaugurate the district along with a few other ministers. The new district will comprise Shahapur, Shorapur and Yadgir taluks.

When asked about including new taluks proposed by the MB Prakash Committee on Taluk Reorganisation, the Chief Minister said that the government has till now not accepted the recommendation of M B Prakash Committee on the matter. The Cabinet Sub-committee would look in to the matter, he said.
