MANGALORE: A bride stunned onlookers when she attempted to garland the wedding photographer hired by the bridegroom in Mangalore on Thursday.
This scene unfolded at the wedding of Nagesh- Poornima and Sreenivas- Bavya which was held at a hotel on B C Road.
At the appointed time, the newly-weds Nagesh and Poornima exchanged garlands. However, Bavya who had to garland Sreenivas, changed her mind and attempted to garland the wedding photographer.
Taken aback, the photographer took to his heels.
Bavya’s relatives, shaken by the scene, ran after him. They caught up with him and handed him over to the police.
After much fuss, the photographer, identified as Preetam, and Bavya agreed to sign an agreement to wed at 8 pm.
Sources told Express Preetam was a resident of Kasargod and worked as a photographer. He had befriended Bavya during a photography assignment.
The friendship blossomed into love and two had been seeing each other for more than eight months. However, Bavya’s family fixed her wedding to Srinivas.
On the day of wedding, Bavya received a call from Preetam, who vowed to marry her even if she got married to another man.
Bavya then decided to garland Preetham. Though Preetham’s brother-in-law and an advocate Sashidhar gave his consent to the wedding, Preetam tried to wriggle out by seeking a day’s time to secure permission from his mother.
However, the bride’s relatives refused to give him any further time.
