BANGALORE: The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admissions to professional courses in the state- medical, engineering, dental sciences, Indian medical systems and homeopathy- will be conducted on April 28 and 29 next year by the Karnataka government.

While exams for Biology, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry papers will be held on April 28 and 29, the Kannada language exam for non-resident Kannadigas and those residing in border areas would be held on April 30.

Announcing the schedule for CET, Higher Education Minister Aravind Limbavali said that efforts were on to persuade private professional college managements to have a common CET. The minister said that he would soon hold a meeting with the private managements in this regard. “Preparing for two exams will be a problem for students,” he said.

The state government has been trying to hold a common CET for government and private colleges for the last two or three years.

However, the private managements who conduct their own entrance test called COMED-K have not shown interest in the government’s proposal.
