HASSAN: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president DK Shivakumar said that the party is unlikely to join hands with the JD(S) in the ensuing MLC polls.

“The state leaders are not open to talks with the JD(S) on the possibility of seat sharing in the council polls. If the party goes for electoral alliance with the JD(S), it might discourage the party workers. The leaders have not discussed anything related to the issue. Moreover, no JD(S) leader has approached the party so far,” Shivakumar said.

Recently, state JD(S) president HD Kumaraswamy had expressed willingness to have truck with the Congress to take on the BJP in the elections.

He said that the elections for various posts of the party, including AICC president would begin from January 1 as per the direction given by the Election Commission.

“We have asked the district and taluk committee members to send a list of candidates,” he added.
