BANGALORE: Bajrang Dal has urged the state government to enact anti-conversion law, citing that the Justice B K Somashekara Commission had indeed confirmed of conversions being undertaken by a Christian group.
“May be non-Roman Catholic group is not indulged in conversion, but still the commission has pointedly referred to some fundamentalist and fringe elements in the Christian community of inciting communal passions and luring gullible public to join Christianity. This needs to be stopped and can be done only if an anti-conversion law is enacted,” Bajrang Dal state convener Suryanarayana told presspersons here on Saturday.
He said on its part, the Bajrang Dal would continue with its peaceful anti-conversion campaign by creating awareness among the public.
“The Bajrang Dal also demands that an inquiry be ordered to find out the origin and destination, purpose and objective of the funds being received from various NGOs from foreign countries. Our suspicion is that huge funds from abroad is flowing into the country with the sole purpose of undertaking conversion activities,” Suryanarayana added.
On the statement made by former chief of Bajrang Dal, Mahendra Kumar, that the Commission report was biased as action has been recommended against him, Suryanarayana said, “According to our reading of the report, action has been recommended against him for justifying the attack on the churches.
We also agree with the commission report because nobody in the sangh pariwar justifies and defends the attacks on religious places. We are for peaceful protest against lurings and coercion.”
