SHIMOGA: The coronation of Dharma Keerthi Swamiji (Devendra Keerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji) of Hombuja Jain Mutt was held at Hombuja Kshetra on Thursday.

The process started at Jain Mutt on November 14. On Thursday, the rituals began at 10.10 am. Poojas were offered to previous swamiji. V H Hombannavar and family members of Sarasangi offered golden paadukas, a ring and a turban as a mark of handing over authority of the mutt to the new swamiji.

After the offerings from Sarasangi, D Veerendra Heggade who led the rituals, consented to conduct the final rituals on ascending the Peetha - a stone which is the symbol of renunciation of worldly comforts. Dharma Keerthi Swamiji ascended the Peetha at 11.15 am amidst chanting of hymns.
