HC stays State Film Awards

The Karnataka High court on Tuesday stayed the State Film Awards for the year 2010-11 in connection with the petition alleging irregularities in the selection process of the awards.

Hearing the petition by the Kannada actress Priya Hassan, Justice Abdul Nazeer ordered stay on the Karnataka State Film Awards for the years 2010-11, which were announced on April 5.

During the hearing, Priya Hassan had said that the selection process of the awards was vitiated as two members of the advisory board had links to the  two films that were selected for the awards.

She further added that the some members in the committee were also nominated for the awards. This was against the rules.
