IIT dreams for AIEEE toppers

Elated at securing all India rank 21 in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination-2012 (AIEEE), state topper Sagar Honnungar, exuded interest at pursuing mechanical engineering in IIT Madras.

A native of Belgaum and a student of National Public School (NPS), Rajajinagar, Bangalore, Honnugar said: “I focused on the AIEEE as I was particular on engineering in the IITs. I am happy that I topped the state too.”

Aditi Ragunathan, who secured state second rank and AIR 61, however, is interested in pursuing physics. A student of NPS Indiranagar, she lists theoretical physics as her favourite subject. “Engineering physics is a combination of electrical engineering and physics. After four years, I know where my career will stand.”State third rank holder Vivek B S aspires to become an aerospace engineer. “I want to pursue BE in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Madras. I am very happy with my results. I enrolled for a crash course at a coaching centre, which aided my preparation,” he added. In the architecture category, Prithvi Hegde secured the first rank in the state and obtained an AIR of 130.

As many as 30 NITs, five IIITs and 13 Central and state government funded and 45 self-financed institutions will admit candidates on the basis of their performance in AIEEE-2012 to courses in engineering, architecture or planning programmes through a centralised counselling procedure.
