Varthur Prakash to join BJP

Express News Service

Textiles Minister Varthur Prakash, the lone face of independent MLAs in the state government, will join the BJP and contest the next Assembly elections on BJP ticket.

He revealed his plans to join the saffron party here on Monday, adding that he would organise a conference of his supporters in Kolar next month before formally joining the party.

Prakash, while referring to the cross-voting in the recent Council elections from the Assembly, said that the culprits would face stringent action when the next elections are announced.

“Party leaders are aware of those violating the party line,” the Minister, who had switched several allegiances earlier, said.
