BANGALORE: Karnataka Vokkaligara Okkoota on Tuesday alleged that the title of the soon-to-be released Kannada film ‘Dev, Son of Mudde Gowda’ is defaming the Vokkaliga community and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.

Addressing a press conference, president of the Okkoota YD Ravishankar said, “We have written to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce and have requested film director Indrajith Lankesh to change the title.

It is a deliberate humiliation to the community and its staple food ‘ragi ball’ (Mudde).”

Ravishankar said the Okkoota had warned theatre owners not to screen the film.

“If the film title is not changed, we will stage protests in front of the Film Chamber and the houses of the film’s director and the producer.” They alleged that some posters of the movie were derogatory.

“For instance, in a poster, actor Diganth is shown with his pants down. These pictures portray our community in a poor light,” he charged.
