Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader and MLC from Uttar Pradesh Ashok Siddhartha said on Sunday that the JD(S) has approached the party to form an alliance in Karnataka for the Lok Sabha polls.

The party will take a call on this after the birthday celebrations of BSP supremo Mayawati on January 15, said Siddhartha who is in-charge of party affairs in southern states.

He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a seminar on ‘Reservation in Promotion in Government Jobs for SC/STs’ at Shivakumara Swamiji Conference Hall. He said JD(S) leader and former PM H D Deve Gowda has sent feelers through a leader, on his wish for a tie-up with the BSP.

“As per the decision of party chief Mayawati, we will see whether to go it alone or not. We will first discuss the JD(S) proposal and then take a final call,”  he clarified.

“The party has plans to contest all 28 seats, but will concentrate on Gulbarga, Bidar, Chitradurga, Chikkodi, Chamarajanagar and Mysore,” he said.
