Kannada filmmaker P Sheshadri won the seventh consecutive national award on Monday. This year, his movie Bharath Stores bagged best Kannada film award.

On winning the award, Sheshadri said he feels like someone who just got a rank in an important exam. “My exam was the success of my film Bharath stores, which tells the story of the effect of multi-brand retail on smaller retailers,” he told Express. Overwhelmed by the award and the special mention that the lead actor in the film received, Sheshadri said that the idea for the film came when India was first introduced to multi-brand retail on September 14, 2010.

He dedicated the film to over 6 crore retailers.
