Two people lost their lives in separate accidents in the city on Friday. Gurumurthy (34), a resident of Bapujinagar, who worked as a mechanic in BMTC depot, died on the spot after coming between two buses on Friday morning.

According to Byatarayanapura traffic police, the victim used to fill diesel and check the condition of BMTC buses every night at Chandra Layout bus depot.  Gurumurthy was under a vehicle when it was moved by mistake. He tried to roll out from under the vehicle but another vehicle passing by ran over him. However, his parents suspected foul play and demanded an investigation into the incident. Gurumurthy is survived by a wife and a son.

In another incident, Mohammad Irfan (26), a resident of Kammanahalli, was run over by a lorry carrying cement near Hebbal Junction. According to Hebbal traffic police, Irfan, who came from Kadri in Andhra Pradesh, got down from the bus at 5 am and was walking towards Hebbal Junction. The truck, which came from behind, ran over him. Irfan died on the spot.  The driver of the vehicle ran away from the spot. Irfan, a salesman, had gone to Kadri with his parents to celebrate Bakrid. He returned alone on Friday as he had to go to work.
