Jatti’s 101st birth anniversary held

Former vice-president Basappa Danappa Jatti was a man of principle, Union Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily said on Saturday.

He was speaking at a programme organised to mark 101st birth anniversary of Jatti.

“Many politicians step on others and climb the ladder of success now. But he (Jatti) never did that. He never had any desire to stick to power. This is a lesson for al politicians. B D Jatti and I shared a common dream of building a  university in the name of Vishwamanava Basavanna where every section of society will be given equal opportunity,” Minister Moily recalled.

He said people work extra hours to complete government work in Japan. But in India, the government officials lack commitment, he rued.

Minister for cooperation H S Mahadev Prasad said the state government would Anubhava Mantapa on the outskirts of Bangalore at a cost of Rs 5 crore.
