A 17-year-old girl was raped by her neighbour in Channipura Mole in Chamrajnagar district.
The girl had left for her aunt’s house on the next street to watch television around 9 pm on Sunday. Nagesh (30), a plumber, waylaid her and took her to his house. He allegedly gagged her with a cloth and raped her for the whole night.
He locked up her in a cupboard inside the house and left closing the main door. But the girl’s family members panicking after she didn’t turn up the whole night, started searching for her.
Finding Nagesh suspicious, neighbours asked him to open his door. He tried to evade them by maintaining that the key was with his wife, who had gone for the delivery of her third child. The neighbours however forced open the door and found the girl. Nagesh escaped as people started beating him. Doctors conducted tests and admitted her to the hospital.

Bidar: A gang-rape case involving a minor girl has been registered in Kangti police station of Andhra Pradesh on Monday.
Kangti police told Express that the victim lodged a complaint claiming that unknown people abducted her and brought to Bidar where they raped the minor girl.
