BANGALORE: Opposition Leader Jagadish Shettar on Monday urged the government to correct the errors in Cauvery and Bhoomi software being used by the government.
He said: “Of the 81.61 lakh RTCs entered in the Bhoomi software, 80 lakh have one or the other error. This has turned out to be a blessing in disguise for touts.”
He also said lakhs of applications seeking income and caste certificates, which need to be issued quickly, are pending. Shettar said the Survey Department is in a shambles as several Podi cases are also pending.
However, Revenue Minister V Srinivasa Prasad said the government is taking action to solve such issues. “Appointment orders have been issued to 1,932 surveyors and charges of licensed surveyors have been increased from `300 to `800. We have taken steps to appoint 800 more surveyors at the earliest,” he said.
Congress MLA S R amesh Kumar alleged that there is no coordination between revenue and forest officials, and with ownership of land being disputed, officials are targeting farmers.
Shettar said the city survey system should also be introduced in Bangalore. He appealed for permitting registration of revenue sites in Bangalore. He also wanted to know whether the Balasubramaniam Committee on Encroachment on government land had come before the Cabinet.

The Assembly was adjourned for 15 minutes as the Opposition BJP and JD(S) protested the empty treasury benches and the absence of ministers during the debate on the demands for the Revenue Department. Shettar accused the government of not being serious while JD(S) member Chikkamadu, BJP member Sunil Kumar and others pressed for an adjournment .
