Ex-CMs to Campaign for Shashil Namoshi

Express News Service

GULBARGA: Former chief ministers B S Yeddyurappa and Jagadish Shettar and former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa wil campaign for BJP candidate Shashil Namoshi for the Legislative Council elections from North East Teachers’ constituency on Monday.

BJP state general secretary Shivanand Kallur told reporters here on Sunday that Yeddyurappa will campaign in Gulbarga, Bidar and Yadgir while Shettar and Eshwarappa will campaign in Koppal, Bellary and Raichur districts.

Kallur said that the constituency is a BJP stronghold as the teaching community there had favoured BJP candidates since 1984. Namoshi has been elected thrice as the party is responding to the woes of teachers, he said.

When the BJP was in power in 2012-13, it had earmarked `3,600 crore for education in its budget. The party had opened 191 colleges and had established three separate universities for music, folklore and law, he said. All this will fetch votes for the BJP candidates in the four constituencies - two graduates’ and two teachers’.
