UDUPI: A year after a Manipal University medical student was gang-raped, no verdict has been delivered in the case.

Last year on June 20, a student who was returning to her flat from the university was abducted raped by three auto drivers.

The accused, Yogish, Harisprasad and Anand, are still in jail as undertrials.

Over 80 witnesses in the case were heard by the district court. Even the victim registered her statement in-camera before the district judge. Meanwhile, the accused approached the High Court alleging that witnesses who were in their favour were not heard by the court. Till the matter is settled in the High Court, the district court cannot give its verdict, opined legal experts.

The prosecution has been seeking the extension of the judicial custody of the accused, producing them before the court every 15 days.
